If, like us, you are interested in exploring the work of, for example, Lecoq, Michael Chekhov, John Wright, Laban, mask work and puppetry, the Performers’ Playground is a weekly meeting where you can develop all of your performing interests: discover ways to develop complicity with an ensemble, experiment with physical comedy, learn how to create theatre with no set and sharpen your devising skills.

We are for actors, directors, dancers, playwrights and any one interested in making theatre through creative play.

As a performer, the best tool you have is your creativity.

The only way to express that is through your body and voice.

However, unless you are constantly, gainfully employed in the theatre business, skills that were once honed start to fade out of grasp, your body starts to look like that of all the other temps and that job you took on to pay the bills becomes what you actually do.

Perhaps you are finding work, just not work that drives your passion. Maybe you have never attempted to create your own work and you don’t know where to start.  Or you really want to, you’re sitting on a great idea for a performance piece, but don’t have the means to work shop it.

For all of these reasons and more, and for all of you, Warhorse Theatre Works have established The Performers’ Playground.

At weekly meetings you can come and play with other creative people bursting with energy and ideas.  We will structure a workshop around taking care of our bodies, sparking our imaginations and quickening our creative reflexes.  If you have an idea you want to work on, email us the details ahead of time and that’s what we’ll do.

Warhorse Theatre Works is committed to helping you stay performance ready, so at every meeting while play with energy and creativity are the means, a performance product is the goal. At every meeting we will encourage you to produce results.

See you on Monday!  Just don’t forget to call or email to let us know you’re coming or for more information about this week’s session.

NOTE: PLEASE BRING/ WEAR LOOSE COMFORTABLE CLOTHING FOR MOVING AND A SWEATER TO KEEP WARM.

Performers
Playground

‘It is the ideal space to try out ideas in a very supportive and active environment as well as an excellent platform where artists meet other artists that want to keep broadening their vocabulary as creators. It is very encouraging to see that new projects are being born from an initial contact at the Warhorse project. It is the ultimate melting pot for creative drive

Carlos Cegarra—Performer’s Playground Participant

‘Performer's playground is a godsend! A warm but challenging environment where all participants are equally valued and responsible. I don't know of any other workshop in London that is open to any performer who wants to work!’

Augustina Seymour—Performer’s Playground Participant
